Engineering dept's haunted house




Spouse's department worked many days creating their haunted house from scratch. They had sound effects, compressed air and creepy ghouls scaring the folks who dared enter the engineering dept.!

Talk about creativity. I loved the Pump Cat (top left) and the blonde pumpkin with braces!

The Haunted Mansion

Disneyland does a great job of preparing the Haunted Mansion for Halloween and Christmas by presenting the theme from The Nightmare Before Christmas. The following days will feature photos from this year's decorations. I love the Haunted Mansion ride, it's one of my favorites!

My neighbor is a quilter and she knows how much I enjoy Halloween. This year she made a new quilt hanging and I'm so happy with it. Aren't they adorable?

Halloween Decorations













I love decorations and am so happy to see many houses decorated for Halloween. Driving home last night I came upon this house and its wonderful Pooh and Scooby inflatables. Sadly, by the time we drove past again, Pooh and Scooby were gone. I hope the owners chose to remove them, rather then because they'd been vandalized.

So on the drive home, I noticed a parking enforcement car with the steering wheel on the right side (normally the passenger side). I didn't know we had cars equipped like this. The small scooter/golf cart-like ones I know about, but this car was new to me.

The city of Alhambra's proposal to extend the 710 freeway 1/4 mile is stupid. It will serve no purpose as traffic will continue to bottleneck in Alhambra only now, in a residential section near an elementary school!

It's time...time for the Knotts Berry Farm Halloween Hunt. I haven't been in several years because they do scare the hell out of you! If being scared out of your wits is your idea of fun, check them out!

Why is it okay for cyclist's to run red lights and disregard traffic/safety rules? Just let a motorist strike the cyclist, even when he's clearly in the wrong, and see what happens to the driver.

- Nothing rings in autumn like the arrival of the L.A. County Fair. Lots of rides, food, exhibits, and walking.
- "My sausages hurt!"

- Both in-laws on a major rag at the same time, so what else is new?!
- Spouse: "I swear, the older they get the more childish they get. I thought I was the child!"
- Experiencing the urge to fly a kite. Yea, it's the wrong season and I don't know where to go to buy one now. Anyone want to hook me up with a used one?
- "Aerial kite photography kicks ass!"
- "The colors of the flora and fauna are just brilliant and astounding!" (Floral exhibit at Garden Center)
- Finally catching up on video of Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, and The Dead Zone.
- Yea, homemade pizza and chocolate milk. "This is a meal."
- "Whoa, they're reairing The Sopranos from the first episode starting Monday."
- Encore presentation of The Wire's first two episodes on Friday, October 1st.

Teardrop Trailers

The rectangular item above the water is the camp stove. The large white square on the right is the fridge and the lantern is between the fridge, the water and behind the wine glasses!


I first laid eyes on one of these during a Travel Channel special on RV travel/living. I was immediately smitten with the Teardrop trailer and longed to go camping. I haven't gone camping in so long, that I am feeling the need to get away and commune with nature. I can't do tent camping anymore because it's just too darn hard on the back and neck. The ground's hard no matter how you try and cushion or camouflage it!

We went to the Fair and I was ecstatic to see the Teardrop for sale and find a local manufacturer. These trailers are ideal for anyone who doesn't have/want an SUV in order to tow a trailer. They're compact - super compact - as the photos illustrate, but this is also what makes them extremely portable and light weight.

Another cellphone photographer.

It seems like everywhere I go, I see folks snapping shots with their cellphones. I still have a standard cellphone that only makes calls. I don't even have text messaging activated! I suppose my next purchase will have to have a camera - preferably a 1 megapixel, anything less and why bother?

Bunyan Man located on Mission Road just north of Cesar Chavez (AKA Brooklyn Ave.) Alas, Bunyan Man hasn't faired as well. He's located at a business that sells auto glass, keys and tires. It's a one stop shop for the lost!

Don't ask me, I only live with my spouse who has suddenly cultivated a fascination with large statues/figures that have a cult following, replete with photos. My spouse recently gave me an assignment of utmost import: go to two locations, digital cam in hand, and capture photos of the Men.

So there I go in search of the men, relying on the vaguest description of alleged sightings. Both locations are high density and parking's at a premium. I snapped one photo of Bunyan Man (trust me, to me they look the same, however, after an extended explanation I concede, Bunyan Man is so named because of his Paul Bunyan-esque resemblance), but he came out too dark. One couldn't appreciate his beauty.

Two days later I returned to the scene of the crime - er, mini-shrine - at 6:45 a.m. to snap Bunyan Man in full sunlight. Success!, he's properly illuminated and his features can be seen and appreciated. Ugh, the things we do for love. LOL

Crash Research?

Does this mean this model of car is used in crash research? This specific car is destined for crash research? Or, is the driver of this vehicle a crash test dummy! Inquiring minds want to know.
