Lofts are the Future!

Downtown Los Angeles is undergoing a revitalization and many of the most decrepit buildings are being gutted and redesigned as loft spaces in some of the notorious sections of town. Once redesigned these lofts will rent for upwards of $2000 monthly - it's totally insane!

HR4437 Immigration Law Protest Photos

Commuting to Santa Monica this weekend, we were caught in snarled traffic due to protestors waving banners, chanting, shouting, blowing air horns and waving American and Mexican flags from the freeway overpasses. Our commute extended by forty minutes as lookie loo drivers slowed to a crawl to view the protestors and read the signs. The jammed traffic allowed for photo opps as we waited! LOL

Curbside Memorials

It's become the norm to see impromptu memorials where fatal car accidents or pedestrian victims have lost their lives. I believe this became acceptable in about 1995. It's our way of coping with unexpected loss of a loved one during our extreme sadness, shock and pain.

Commercialism

Has anyone else noticed the decline in commercializing Easter? I know it's still early, but previous years have had major displays in stores of bunnies, candies, decorative outdoor light sets, etc. I haven't seen any and noticed the ads are very subdued. Perhaps as it nears they commercial onslaught will ensue unabated?

Inspector Magoo

It never fails, where ever I am...whatever I'm doing...Mr. Magoo has to be right in the mix inspecting what's going on and checking if it's up to his standards.

Dining Out

Ambience is equally important when hoping for a good dining experience. The food may taste great but the restaraunt too loud or design too garish. It's nice to have a place to retreat to while enjoying the company of others.

Bread Pudding

Reading yesterday's paper as I enjoy a plate of delicious capirotada (bread pudding) with bread, piloncillo, cheese, shredded coconut and raisins. It's cold, windy and raining outside - a perfect day for reading, relaxing and sipping hot tea.

View from A&W

A gorgeous day in Corona, California. On a roadtrip we stopped to energize ourselves with a charbroiled burger and rootbeer float!

The First Street Store

When was the last time you had to pay $.25 to use a public restroom? Talk about a throw back to the sixties!

Likewise, when was the last time you could smoke inside a public building? Yea, it's been like forever, so why the signage?!

DeCATf

My preferred tea and coffee of choice is decaf unless, you're in my household of cats! My favorite mug for sipping warm drinks.

Gorgeous Winter Day

Three good things:
~ The sun shining and radiating warmth
~ Buying my parking permit
~ A steaming bowl of soup for dinner
