Eye Sore

Driving past in a hurry this is all you see and, while it's not beautifying the community, it's not so terrible.

On closer inspection this is the eye sore you see...graffiti. Defacing the wall once isn't enough, some felt the need to cross out opposing taggers/gangs and repeatedly spray their moniker. It's all so senseless; marking their so-called "territory" like dogs.

Quit Smoking Campaign

I loved how this advert attacked smoking as an addiction and, like any addiction, it needs to be stopped. I'd love to see more of them plastered all over town!

Classic Neon

I like classic style signage and neon and this sign has seen a lot of years. It needs some TLC and attention and I hope the owner will give it some soon instead of simply replacing it.

Star*ucks Drive Thru

I've read about Star*ucks' expansion including drive thrus but did not know I had one within a ten mile radius. I suppose it's a no brainer in Los Angeles where your wheels define who you are and how good a living you earn. I was still surprised, though.

Hawaiian Vacation

My sister recently went on a cruise in Hawaii and returned with nice gifts for everyone. I was especially impressed with what she brought my mom. I would never have thought to buy these gifts yet, I know our mother will thoroughly enjoy and use them. Some people have a knack for selecting gifts, mine is a challenge. LOL

Sixty Eight Degrees

I was out enjoying the sunshine and heat when this lady walked past. I immediately felt hot and over heated and couldn't fathom wearing what she was. Different strokes and all that, I know.

Trash Can

As full as this trash can is more would be filled if my city would offer them. Perhaps my city doesn't want to increase manpower to empty more trash cans? We need them because strewn trash is a blight.

Spring...is it really here?

Ah, sunshine, no strong winds or rain, I think spring has arrived. It's wonderful to have temps in the mid-seventies and low eighties. I hope it lasts!

Three good things about today:

~ I haven't been sick like everyone else at the office.
~ The gals have been going gathering for lunch and having many laughs.
~ The days are longer and it's time to walk!

Amen!

As a child, my father and mother would take me to the movies at The State theater, a grand movie house replete with balcony seating and grand architecture. These old single screen theaters can't compete with the multiplexes and no one thinks of urban Los Angeles as a destination. So as part of its redevelopment many old movie houses have been renovated as churches. Once a month the city of Los Angeles conservancy gives paid tours of some of L.A.'s grandest theaters.

Exhausted?

Regardless how tired or exhausted I was, I would never allow myself to fall asleep on a bus bench, especially with my purse in full view. It's just to tempting for someone in need of quick cash.

Big City Pizza Delivery

Delivering pizza via bicycle in the heart of a big city must be nerve wrecking. I know I could not do it with huge buses weaving in and out of traffic and manic drivers always in a hurry.

Revitalization

Unfortunately, revitalizing L.A.'s downtown has not meant attracting more upscale boutique or artsy stores. It's more like one huge swapmeet of vendors hawking their wares at every available store space without regard to aesthetics.
